    • The ETRI-Norsat Satellite Terminal Joint Research Center was established between ETRI and Norsat International in January 2008. The first research results were reported in December of that year. An important product already jointly developed is a converter for military with a 10 Watt output. It is the lightest and smallest device of its kind on the market today, has diverse monitoring and command functions, and is designed for highly efficient use in satellite terminal systems. With thissuccess as a start, the ETRI-Norsat joint development operation is proceeding according to plan. The mid-/long-term roadmap calls for expansion into satellite antennas in 2009 and satellite terminal systems in 2010.

"Extending our operations into Korea will facilitate our overall growth initiatives and accelerate our R&D efforts. Norsat Korea will provide us with a cost-effective means for driving continued expansion of our product portfolio, and by establishing a local presence in Korea, we will be well positioned to successfully introduce our full suite of satellite products to a new and growing Asian market."

    • NeuroSky, a US-based firm specialized in brainwave research, and KAIST, with Korea´s largest brain science laboratory, established a joint research center at Daedeok Innopolis in November 2008. The groundwork has been laid for worldclass brain science research, and R&D and technology commercialization work is now underway. The center is responsible for developing core R&D functions required in the development of NeuroSky products such as the neuroheadset. NeuroSky will use the Korean market as a test-bed and will use the center at Daedeok Innopolis as a key R&D operation for the Asian region.

"We are confident that the newly established KAIST-Neurosky R&D center will provide the foundation for brain science research at a global level and promote commercialization of its R&D."

      Stanley Yang
      CEO of NeuroSky Inc.

    • VTT(Technical Research Institute of Finland), the largest technology commercialization research center in Northern Europe, established a R&D center inside Daedeok Innopolis in 2009. VTT and ETRI have set up a joint research facility focusing on ubiquitous computing technology. This center provides a competitive advantage in the fierce market competition and secures the a superior position.

"We will produce the excellent R&D achievement with ETRI for ubiquitous computing technology and field tests for its commercialization. We thank Daedeok Innopolis for its excellent business partnership."
