EXPO Park is a theme park opened to commemorate the Daejeon International Exposition Korea in 1993. With the neighboring Daedeok Research Complex, National Science Museum and Currency Museum, it is a de facto science Mecca.

The Daejeon Observatory offers people opportunities to observe celestial bodies. This observatory is the first of its kind in terms of accessibility for ordinary people to enjoy astronomy. Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology
This is the only research institute in Korea that specializes in biotechnology. The institute carries out the basic research needed to understand fundamental life phenomena, and also performs biotechnology research in health and medicine, increased food production, new biomaterials, environmental purification and the development of new energy sources.
This institute was established in 1959 as the only national, comprehensive research institute for atomic power. The institute is committed to the research and development of atomic power generation, and to research, policy study and manpower training on fundamental atomic energy technology.
TMt. Sikjangsan, located at the southeastern part of Daejeon is 623.6 meters high. This mountain is known for its wellpreserved forest. There are famous old temples on the mountain including Gosansa and Gaesimsa. Secheon Park, a along a lake located at the base of the mountain, is a popular place for family picnics, especially in the spring.
Gubongsan Red and Orange Colors of Autumn Leaves
Mt. Gubongsan is 264.1 meters high with impressive rocks and cliffs. The red and orange colors of autumn leaves and trees enveloped in the autumn mists provide a wonderful and mysterious view of this mountain.
Jangtaesan Recreational Forest
With the height of only 186 meters and located in the midst of other mountains, Mt. Jangtaesan in Jangan-dong, Seo-gu, is more like a hill. Accommodations, amenities and an exercise area have been developed in this recreational forest.
Bomunsan Green Shade
Located in the center of the city with the height of 457.6 meters, Mt. Bomunsan is one of the most popular mountains in and around the city. Famous cultural sites here include Yuhoedang, Bongsoru, and Bomunsaji as well as amusement parks such as the Youth Plaza and Sajeong Park.
Gyejoksan Evening Glow
Mt. Gyejoksan, also called Bisuri or Baekdalsan, is 423.6 meters high. There are many historical sites on this mountain including Uam Historical Park, Dongchundang (old house), Ssangcheongdang (pavilion) and Ongnyugak (pavilion).
Yuseong Spa
Yuseong Spa was discovered and developed during the Baekje kingdom. These hot springs are rich in calcium and sodium, have a therapeutic effect on skin irritations and also help maintain healthy skin.
Lake Daecheonghosu
Clean and beautiful Daecheonghosu, with a 72.8km² torage area, was developed in 1980 as part of the Comprehensive Development Project for the Geumgang (river) area. This lake is an important water resource for the people and industries of Daejeon and Chungcheong Provinces
Hanbat Arboretum
Hanbat Arboretum is an artificially-made tree garden in the middle of the city, with a sensory garden, woods for meditation, a marsh garden, eco-forest, a bush garden and a Mugunghwa (Rose of Sharon) hill, and various convenience facilities. Citizens love the Hanbat Arboretum; a comfortable resting place in the middle of the city.
Ppuri Park
Ppuri Park, located in Chimsan-dong, Jung-gu is devoted to showing the origins of 136 Korean surnames, which are engraved on stone sculptures. There are also hiking trails, a tree garden, a recreational forest, and a wild flower garden. It is one of the most popular sites in Daejeon, serving both as a resting place and a learning center.
Maninsan (Mt.) Recreational Forest
This recreational forest has camping sites, paths, and fitness areas, thus making it a terrific site for family picnics. The Maninsan Green Learning Center, owned and operated by Daejeon Metropolitan City, is located here. Cold and refreshing streams flow down to the valley and broad-leaved trees form a thick forest. There are specially designated zones along the natural ridges of the mountain, such as the Family Rest Zone, Youth Zone and Picnic Zone.

Uam Historical Park
The park, nestled under Gyejoksan (Mt.) at Gayang-dong, is a time-honored structure, where famous Joseon-era Confucian scholar Song Si-yeol (1607-1689) lived. Uam was his pen name. The ruins of the buildings were restored as a historical park. Among the cultural assets and properties are Namganjeongsa (old structure), Gigukjeong and Songja Daejeon-pan (Wooden Printing Blocks of the Books by Song Si-yeol).
Dunsan Prehistoric Site
This site is where remains of the Old Stone, New Stone, and Bronze Ages were excavated in one place for the first time in Korea.
Dongchundang (Traditional Guest House)
Designated National Treasure No. 209, Dongchundang was built in 1634 by Song Jun-gil (1606~1672) (pen name was Dongchundang) as a place to study and meet with his fellow scholars to discuss Confucian principles. He served the nation as Defense Minister during the reign of King Hyojong.
Daejeon Hyeonchungwon(National Cemetery)
The National Memorial Cemetery, located toward Gyeryong Mountain National Park about 3 kilometers from Yuseong Spa, covers an area of 3.3 million square meters. The graveyard, Memorial Tower, Defense Fountain, Defense Hall and other monuments serve to pay tribute to soldiers who devoted themselves to defending the country. Many bereaved family members and observers visit the cemetery which stirs people´s deepest emotions. The cemetery is open all year round.
